inverter construction: Approximate rating of a power inverter before purchasing or constructing

Unlike most of you that are interested in purchase or construction of a power inverter, It’s often becomes difficult to decide the appropriate rating for the inverter you would want to purchase or construct, generally inverter are available with rating such as; 500w, 1000w, 12000w and so on. As the cost, the inverter is proportional to their wattage. And inverter can run an ac appliances such as hair dryers, microwave, computer, washing machines, blender, air condition, television, refrigerator and so on, you can run any appliances using power inverter but the question remain these, how do one decide the approximate rating of a power inverter before purchasing or constructing? which am going to show to you in these post an already design which would help you decide the approximate rating of power inverter before purchasing or constructing.

     purchase power inverter

Step you must consider when choosing a power inverter

The first step in selecting an inverter is to match the inverter to the voltage of the battery you'll be using for power. In the majority of cases, you'll be using a 12-volt battery, so you would want to select a 12-volt inverter.

The next step is to determine which devices you plan to power with the inverter. Look for a label somewhere on each device that tells you the wattage it requires to operate. The wattage rating of your inverter must exceed the total wattage of all the devices you plan to run simultaneously. Different models of power inverters vary in how many watts of power they can supply. One should analyses the requirement before constructing or buying any inverter suggested by the salesman. So given alongside is a ready design which would help you decide the approximate rating of the system to be bought or construct, You can also add up power requirement of all electrical items that you would want to run on the inverter to arrive at the ratting.

    IN CONCLUSION:

The capacity of an inverter should equal the total number of watts required by each device, plus at least a 50% addition to account for peaks or spikes in the power draw. For example, if a DVD player draws 100 watts and a small TV another 100 watts, a minimum 300-watt inverter is recommended. Getting an inverter with more capacity than what is immediately needed is a good idea for many people, as it means that different or new devices can be added without the need for a new power inverter.
